Private tutor in Chevy Chase, MD
Education
Georgia Institute of Technology - BS, Mechanical Engineering
Experience
I obtained my bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Energy Systems at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I have also served at a variety of internships working with wind and steam turbines. I also spent two years researching how to reduce idling of buses in the public school system. I've been interested in energy usage since high school, when I converted my 1984 car from using diesel fuel to running on vegetable oil. I became a tutor because I wanted to use the knowledge I have gained to help others. As a tutor, I do my best to share my enthusiasm in subjects that many students struggle with. This is particularly true for math courses. I believe there is luck involved in finding a teacher who can help a student truly understand how to find the answers. Anyone can be good at math if they have a teacher that connects with them and helps them gain confidence in the subject. I enjoy helping students of all ages in elementary and middle school math courses, algebra, calculus, geometry, trigonometry, and advanced courses like AP Calculus AB. I can also provide assistance with other courses. I teach physics, anatomy, environmental science, and mechanical engineering. I can also help students prepare for the ACT and SAT. In my free time, I like to spend time reading, hiking, and hanging around in a hammock.
